Hot Cover of the Week

Any cover that sports a hot Asian dude on the cover is alright with me. Man, look at this thing. It makes me actually want to read it. In fact, I just bought it, you guys. Like two seconds ago. I know I’ve been harping at the severe lack of Asian dudes as romance heroes, but now, here it is. See? It’s a good thing. ‘Cause they’re hot! They’re all mysterious and shadowy and Zen-like and silent like a ninja… look, I don’t even mind if you write the most stereotypical grasshopper dude. He can eat rice and use chopsticks and not use contractions (just like vampires!) and call you his little lotus flower. I don’t care. I mean, wow, just look at this dude. Check out that blade of a nose and those beautiful lips. Man, I even dig the rosy cheeks. Dear God, look at those cheekbones. I think they can actually slice onions. Goddamn, that’s a beautiful face. Mmm… I can just cover him with chocolate syrup and eat him up with a spoon. Hmm… I wonder if I think this guy is hot because he sports that androgynous look that I’m so fond of in my men. Sure, his eyebrows are a little ridiculous and UGH, I cannot stand that font (it’s very distracting), but all and all, I gotta say that I’m a huge fan of this cover. I can’t say it enough, this model is fucking gorgeous. Nice work, New Concepts Publishing! Keep it up!

Why is it that hot Asian dudes (I’m thinking of Jin on Lost) all have perfectly symmetrical cheekbones? And so sharp they’d cut you? Man, he’s pretty. I hope the book is as good as the cover.

I read this book as soon as it came out (love Michelle M Pillow). This is going to be a new part of her futuristic series. I think the next one comes out some time in the next month or so and I can’t wait to see the cover on that one.

There’s a series called something like White Tigress that has Asian heroes, at least the first book which was all I read did.

I am in lust. Also, I bought this book a long time ago. Can’t wait to see a review of it. Soon? I hope? Hoping it’s good as I’ve heard good things about her books.

    Oh. My. Gods.

I want to buy this, blow up the cover, and have it framed. He is…stunning.

The rest of the cover is great too. He’s a jewel in a perfect setting. Only, you know, a manly jewel.

The guy on this cover looks just like gorgeous Takeshi Kaneshiro. Check him out in House of Flying Daggers.

I’m a big fan of the androgynous male, so much sexier than testosterone-stuffed macho bullshit. This is one gorgeous man, one beautiful cover and I DO like the font. I don’t think it’s distracting at all.

“Why is it that hot Asian dudes (I’m thinking of Jin on Lost) all have perfectly symmetrical cheekbones? And so sharp they’d cut you?”

That is what makes them hot. ^_^ Studies have shown that symmetrical faces and high cheekbones are appealing to people. lol.

Bonnie, I agree that androgyny is sexier than “testosterone-stuffed macho bullshit”. :)

Hooray for hot Asian dudes! Now where’s MINE?! My relatives are getting restless… XD

Are we sure it ISN’T the guy from House of Flying Daggers? If not, it might as well be his clone.

Very sexy cover. Me like. :)

I think it is dude from “House of Flying Daggers”, either way both the guy on the cover and the guy who he looks like is hot. Something about androgynous men and Asian men, mmmmm :]

Naw, he looks nothing like Kaneshiro. Check it out. He IS hot, though.

I totally said, “That’s Takeshi Kaneshiro. In House of Flying Daggers.” Maybe they photoshopped him? Can he sue?

It is a really hot cover…

I would guess that the photo reference was originally Takeshi Kaneshiro from House of Flying Daggers, with the face slightly changed or switched out for a difference Asian face or expression. The pose, hair, and clothing is nearly bang on, though, with colors changed.

As for whether or not they can sue, it would depend. If the book makes enough money for the cover to get on their radar, they might sue, since yes, it’s copyrighted material, and we don’t live in Andy Warhol days.

Usually I don’t like faces on my cover men, but when the faces look like that…Great cover! Hot but classy. How do they do it?

Also, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a cover that was just a man’s face. Usually they throw in some man-titty or some abs to spice things up. Dare I hope this is the start of a trend?

I read one of those too. While I do admire the author for reaching a few thousand miles east of the traditional range of historical Romance - Meh. The hero practiced some religion that preached enlightenment though sex - and, strangely, this was NOT HOT. But that’s probably just my biases talking. I’m not fond of stories where people have sex for reasons other than the hot. Magical babies, saving the world, enlightenment - all = Meh for me.

Oh wow, that guy IS hot :) ; I think I’m going to have to buy this book just because there are so few Asian dudes in romance!
