I'm another unwitting victim of Nightseer. It was loaned to me during the peak of my LKH love (Burnt Offerings was the latest book) and I remember reading it on the bus to school.

And that's ALL I remember, unfortunately. And I have a pretty good head for books, but... yeah, I got nothin'. All I can recall is that it had the weakest. Ending. Ever. It was this huge tension buildup between Generic Fantasy Heroine and her Eeeeebil (Ish) Adversary Who Has Trapped Her Into Betrothal, (Betrothment? Whatever, he's like Jean-Claude in elf-fetish clothing.) and then the post-marriage scene of Will They DO IT? And something happened, and everyone laughed like chums. The end.

Really, that was it. Book over.

And I back up Sallahdog's advice -- a few choice trips to the Blog O Doom and you will canceling that preorder. Name something that COULD be wrong with a blog, and LKH's pleads guilty. Cannot structure a sentence to save her life? Check. Typos galore? Check. Comma splicing? Fucking CHECK. Spoiling her own (unpublished)books? You bet. Too much personal information? Oh god, my eyes. Yet managing to bore us to death with inane babble in the same entry?

I'm half-certain she does this on purpose. It's too textbook bad to be real... isn't it?

And of course the reasonable response to that is, so why do I still read it every now and again? To keep me from buying the books. Bam, if you thought the forewards were self-pitying and bitter in a "I'm a Big Name I don't need them anymore," you should see her account of the Strange Candy release party. MeeeeeYOW!

Bam, as an ex LKH junkie (I hear there are 12 step programs for this) I would suggest that you go read LKHs blog (read back for at least 2 years)... This will completely taint anything of Anita that you read and will help you break your addiction... It worked for me, all I hear when I see an Anita book is LKH whining and raging and whining about her life..

“A Token for Celandine takes place in the world of LKH's first novel, Nightseer (I haven't read it, but I hear it sucks ass)”

It does. I tried reading it and I just couldn’t finish. The main problem with it for me was that LKH never really explained the world very thoroughly and the characters just never really interested me.

Anyway, loved the review! Especially since I, too, “love LKH like a fat kid loves cake.” However, I did manage to resist Danse Macabre and I will resist this too! LOL. Great review.

I can't help but feel that LKH has stolen that cover from some other, more deserving, book.

I stopped reading Anita after NiC, even from the library. I liked how in the Merry Gentry books, LKH realised that there was no realistic way to fit all the boinking in, so she just slowed time down.

"Did any of you actually read Nightseer?"

I read it. It's the kind of book that makes writing a book and getting it published look easy. I think the heroine had some sort of deal going with a demon, or some sort of demon taint (hee, taint!). At any rate, I did wonder if LKH had made a similar sort of deal to get the thing in print.

Then I read Guilty Pleasures and bought her next six books the instant they came out. Drat that LKH!

I'm just not gonna go there. All I can say is that I think we need to stage an intervention. We should put Bam in a room surrounded by all her hardback LKH books and ask her to add up the combined price of the books and think about what else she could have bought with the money.
But I confess to being an ex-LKH junkie too. Remember, Bam, the first step is admitting you have a problem. lol E

Maybe in those next 15 books Anita will wake up, realize it was all just a terrible dream, and that Bobby is still alive!

See, I'm with Stella on this one...library run for me too...if I'm really hard-up for something to read.

Luckily, I haven't been like in a LOOONG time.

I also think the cover is hawt and it should be illegal to have a hawt cover like that on a shit-a$$ book. IMO.

LOL.
