Monday Morning Piece of Ass

I do love Christian Bale. But only in movies. He always looks kind of fug outside of them (he just looks stinky). Sure, there is some hotness creeping in here and here and I’d still totally hit it, but he just looks like… some guy. Like that kind of hot, kind of creepy dude that your friend would set you up with and you can’t decide if you want to hit her or thank her for it. Anyway, he was the one I was picturing in place of Adrien Hunt, the hero of Judith Ivory’s latest reprint, Angel in a Red Dress, which I just finished reading. Who do you picture in place of the hero in your head when you’re reading (especially when the cover is totally fug)?

Ah, you must not have seen The Machinist. Do a GIS and click “Images,” then come back to me.

Kimber, I hate you so much right now. That was way too fucking disturbing for a Monday afternoon. I’m going to have to go wash my psyche out by watching him do push ups as Bruce Wayne on endless loop.

    Yeah.. the machinist.

    Yikes.

But Batman Starts Up.. Gets Going.. Begins.. whatever the hell Batman 10 is called.. he’s one yummy mother in that, he is.

    Yumm!

Whatever, I thought he was hot in The Machinist. There’s just something about a guy you can easily break in half without even trying.

And I have seen the Machinist. Jennifer Jason Leigh was totally hot as the dirty, dirty whore.

I loved The Machinist. It one of my all time favs.

And you have to give props to a guy who could go from totally ripped in American Psycho to a complete wasteland in The Machinist, and back to awesome in Batman.

Yay! The Dark Knight is in filming. With Heath Legder possibly as the Joker!

See, I have such issues with him. Because seriously? Batman is like my #1 sexual fantasy. Really. I am obsessed.

And Bale just doesn’t do it for me. So I have Batman, who if he was real, and I lived in Gotham, I would be wandering around at night in my nightie just hoping to flash some intimate parts at him, and Bale, who doesn’t appeal. He’s not sexy to me, but Batman is sexy no matter what, so I want him as Batman, but I don’t want Christian Bale…The mental stress this has caused…indescribeable.

December–can you see Michael Keaton as Batman though? (Or is that serie too old for you?)

My daughter totally wants to see “The Prestige.” She’s going to have to see it with someone else, because I feel really pervy lusting after the same guy she is at the same time. Ewww.

Didn’t see Machinist but I loved him in Reign of Fire.

Haha, Kate, I appreciate it, but I graduated high school the year after the Keaton Batman was released. (It was 90 right? Anyway, I’m thirty-three. So definitely old enough.)

No, I didn’t really see him “that way” either, but that made the Bale casting worse–I was so excited they were getting anew Batman, a new look, etc. etc….and I was disappointed. :-(

Michael Keaton was PERFECT as Batman. OMG, yum. Way sexier than Bale.

Bale has that angst sexiness going on as Batman, but Keaton had that inner quiet confidence that gets my knickers every time.

    ;)

Robyn, I hear you! I’m so glad my daughters aren’t old enough for The Prestige (or any movies other than Winnie the Pooh, actually), especially since I keep thinking how fabulous a Batman/Wolverine sandwich would be. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

To answer the question, though: Who do you picture in place of the hero in your head when you’re reading (especially when the cover is totally fug)? which, apparently NONE of you have done, Jamie Bamber is my catchall for the moment. And I mean Apollo Adama from Sesons 1 and 2. We’ll discuss the fat suit later…although I hear he’s losing it in EP5. Thank the goddesses, because every time I see him onscreen in it, I bust out laughing.

    Yeah. What gives? Thanks, Shuz!

I don’t picture anyone.. I just imagine him based on the descriptions.

And he’s always hotter than the guy on the cover. ;)

    Uhhh…

At the risk of sounding, you know, obsessive…

    Batman.

    Or maybe Aragorn, sometimes.

(Julian McMahon, Oded Fehr, or maybe Sam Rockwell, I suppose, if I must, but because Batman is faceless and romance heroes are faceless to me…yeah. I think I need help.)

Jamie Bamber is my catchall for the moment

I’m trapped between the Bamber of Hornblower (who’s totally gay for Horatio no matter how much people may like to pretend otherwise) and the Bamber of BSG (though I’ve seen only season 1 so far). There’s the hardness of Apollo that I love, but with the American accent vs. the softness of Kennedy, but with the English accent. What I need in order to buy totally into Bamber-as-fantasy-inspiration is some hardness (make of that what you will) combined with the English accent.

Anyway, as to the question…I’m terrible at picturing people when the cover sucks. Somehow I’ll take the descriptions the authors provide of various body parts and end up with only those parts - I never get a glorious whole. It’s aggravating! I hate my lack of imagination.

I’ll answer this. Who do I picture, top five:

    1) Brandon Routh
    2) Christian Bale
    3) Nathan Fillion
    4) Scott Speedman

… and Simon Baker! Boy, he was hot in Something New.

I like to picture Vin Diesel if the hero is at all alpha.
And the best thing about Christain Bale is his deep, sexy voice. Did you know he is the voice of Howl in Howl’s Moving Castle? I had no idea why an anime movie was getting me all hot and bothered until I watched the making of segment at the end and realized he was Howl. Then it all made sense. Oh, and I must have been the only person in America that didn’t like Batman Begins.
Bam, I’m still on vacation but Ceremony of Three comes out tomorrow at EC. Have you read it yet? Evangeline

Hmmm, Christian Bale - he’s sort of like that girl on Seinfeld who was pretty in a certain light and then turned scarily ugly in others.

    Who do I picture…
Don’t laugh but (young) Tim Daly shows up a lot. I like ‘em clean cut. Otherwise, it’s mostly Jensen Ackles and some guy that doesn’t really exist. I think I synthesized him from Jeff on Dynasty and some random guy on a daytime soap - wherever his parts came from, the sum is smokin’.:D

Thank you! I’m a little late responding, but Thank You! I love me some Christian Bale. Always have. Am i the only person who adores Newsies? If you haven’t seen it, check it out. A very early 90’s Disney musical about New York paperboys who sing. Bale neither sings nor dances very well, but he’s young and cute. Actually, in one of the dance numbers he literally trips over his own foot. Yes, my fam has watched this movie way too many times.
