I couldn't agree with you more. The major flaw is due to my own arrogance. I really wanted to write a romance novel that explored romance through the interaction of a loving couple's sexual relationship. So... not sex as the culmination of romance but sex as an illustration of romance. I think the book is really charming and fairly effective at doing what I attempted, but, as I mentioned, I think you're right: I should have added a few more traditional elements to both pace the book better and provide a deeper view of their relationship in traditional romance terms.
