Give Me a Ride, Cap’n!

Nathan Fillion
I just saw a commercial for Drive, which is premiering tonight (in a Two-Hour Series Premiere at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox), and started screaming and jumping that Tim was actually worried. Where are my fellow Firefly fans? Our captain is back on the small screen! Omg, I have to breathe or I’m going to hyperventilate. I AM SO EXCITED! Here’s the plot:

DRIVE is an action-fueled drama following a diverse group of Americans competing for their lives (or the lives of their loved ones) in an illegal, underground cross-country road race. Some of them have been coerced into joining “The Race”; others have sought out The Race themselves, hearing rumors of the $32-million prize. Each has a reason to compete. And each must win.

Nathan plays Alex Tully, a man “thrust into The Race in an effort to find his missing wife.” What does his wife have to do with an illegal street race? It looks terrible. BUT WHO CARES! Our Captain is back on TV! YAY!

It’s a Tim Minear show, so I’m hopeful it doesn’t suck… I’m watching tonight (even though it means not going to see Grindhouse again, which left the hubby none too pleased!). :-)

    Sounds awful.

But I will watch it anyway. For you, Nathan. Only for you.

I love Firefly too but as Shannon Stacey pointed out to me, it’s Mal we love and the show itself, not necessarily the actor. I hope the show is good too because I’ll be watching, but it won’t be Firefly *sob*

And for the love of Pete, will you please install the Subscribe to Comments feature. Pretty please with contracts on top?

Um… I don’t know about you guys, but I love Nathan Fillion as Bill Pardy too (Slither). *sniff* I love that man. I love him for the geeky, goofy-looking nerd boy he is!

Ms. Angie, I’ve activated the subscribe-to-comments plugin for you. Now about those contracts…

*smirk* thought that would get you. I’ll send you a contract but you’ve already seen what they look like so I’m not sure why you want to see it again ;)

Obviously I like looking at contracts. Particularly if it had my name on it and promised me a lot of money *smirks right back*

Hey, Meljean, five bucks says Drive won’t last the season. Damn you, FOX!

I’m set to record it. I’m praying please don’t let it suck. But it has Nathan Fillon… I know he’ll be good *G*.

I tried to watch Slither. He was good. LOL but it freaked me out. Had to turn it off.

I lurrrve Nathan…he’s just so loveable and sweet and funny and geeky and goofy. Love him. But I still don’t know if I’ll be watching this show.

I got interested right away a few months ago, when they described Nathan Fillion’s character as a “Rogue landscaper”. Don’t know what type of landscaping would be considered roguish, but it sounds hot.

My family’s a huge fan of Fillion (not just because we’re from Edmonton like he is - whoo! E-Town!), so we’ll be watching.

    OMGOMGOMG I KNOW!!!! NATHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!
    **gropes him most inappropriately**
God he’s hot enough to make me watch a show I would not otherwise EVER bother with.

I really miss Firefly. That show was amazing, I do NOT understand why it was canceled :-(

I always preferred Jayne. Where the hell is he anyway?

Making terrible TV movies on the Sci-Fi Channel. Possibly with Dean Cain.

I like Nathan Fillion. He has a nice butt. See Trash.

Fine, rub it in! You know I don’t get sci-fi or comedy central here. *runs away crying*

Jayne was one of the main characters in that short-lived series DAYBREAK with Taye Diggs. Actually hubby and I enjoyed it.

So far, so good. I enjoyed the pilot and am looking forward to tonight’s episode. I love multi-character dramas with bizarre plots like this. Already I’m in lust with the thug older brother of the brother duo.

Why couldn’t we just have more episodes of Firefly instead?

    *sigh*

because Fox refuses to acknowledge Joss Whedon’s genius, Jaci.

I thought the show was great, and not just because of Nathan. It was so much fun, and I’m crossing my fingers, toes and eyes that it survives. We need more thinking, cospiracy driven shows with hot guys like Nathan.

Okay, I just watched the next episode. The plot? Meh. But the little smile on Tully’s face as he tore up the highway in that muscle car? Hawt.

SPOILER for those who haven’t watched this episode yet: Who the hell is he if he isn’t Alex Tully, landscaper from Nebraska?

I’m watching the 3rd epi right now.

Morally Ambiguous Nathan is a delicious Nathan.

I started watching only for Cap’n Tightpants, but I was surprised to find I’m actually *liking* the show. I mean, it’s no Firefly, but the dialogue is generally snappy, and Nathan Fillion is brilliant, of course. Sure, at the end I crave more Firefly, but really it doesn’t take anything at all to make me crave more Firefly and at least this way we get to see our Mal… :)

I’d watch Nathan read the phonebook. Hell, I even LOVE Caleb. He was the best evil Buffy ever had to deal with.
