I Think I’m Going to Cry

So I woke up from my nap— that’s right, my mid-afternoon nap—washed the crusties from my eyes, had a drink of water, and checked the mailbox to see if I have new Netflix, when I found a package from Colleen Gleason. Standard procedure for receiving unexpected package from fellow authors: 1) put on gas mask 2) slide on gloves and apron 3) put package inside fume hood. Inside the package was a copy of Rises the Night. And a bunch of bookmarks! WOO-HOO! Party time! I opened the book and Ms. Gleason’s note says:

Bam, thanks for the Latin help. Hope you enjoy this and pimp it like crazy :)

I sat down to start the book when on the page before the prologue, the acknowledgment page, caught my eye. On it was this ↓ (please click the image for a larger version).

Bam Acknowledged

I screamed. Oh, man… I hope I won’t hate this book. ‘Cause the next thing Ms. Gleason might send me is a box of exploding poop. That would not be so cool. Also, I hope I’m the Bam she’s referring to… or I’d be so embarrassed.

    I’m thinking she’s talking to you. There aren’t a lot of Bam’s out there, especially in the writer/readersphere! How exciting!!!! :D

    You could send it to me when you’re done reading it. Then I could conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether you are indeed the correct Bam.

    I’m usually pretty even-tempered.
    And I’m the kind of gal who cheers for the sistahs when something wonderful comes their way…
    BUT DAMN, BAM! I’m experiencing *cough* JEALOUSY!!
    Not over the acknowledgment (yay, you!), but the fact that you get to read this book MONTHS before the rest of us plebs. The words bitch & whore are flashing through my sunshine & roses brain.

    Colleen, I was pretending surprise. Kind of like when your friends and family throw you a surprise party and you have to pretend like, “OMG, you guys, I had no idea!” Also, it’s different seeing it IRL. Oh, and I flunked Latin.

    You flunked Latin? Shit. Does that mean that I should find someone else to help me with my next book? ;-)
