May’s Contest: And the Winner is…

Hula Girl… Tumperkin! You guys it was really, really close because we had some awesome entries this month. OMGWTFBBQ, you peepz blew me away for real. Here’s Tumperkin’s winning entry:

I can’t say they didn’t warn me about Will. But my God, he was crazy-fucking-beautiful. And on one of those manic highs of his, I swear he could have seduced anyone.

I met him at my wedding. It started right then and I can’t accept responsibility. No-one could have resisted him that day.

I was standing in the line-up, welcoming the guests, and Will was my best friend’s date. When he arrived in front of me, I found myself looking at the most beautiful male face I had ever seen. Girlish almost, with a cupid’s bow mouth and extravagantly long eyelashes. Silver eyes, like a husky.

He stared at me with incredible concentration. For one moment, the world shrank to the two of us; a moment when he leaned forward and whispered in my ear: ‘I think I’ve fallen in love with you’. I almost laughed, but when I drew back and looked into those mercury eyes again, I just - believed him. And I know that he did mean it, right at that moment. That was what was so hypnotic about Will. He was always completely sincere.

Only just for a moment.

    Congrats, Tumperkin! You bent two hundred words into one hell of a hook. What happens next?

    Thanks to everyone who voted. And, Bam, thanks for staging the contests. I was staring at a blank page when I decided to surf over here. Two hundred words seemed so much more doable than the 25,000 I was trying to wring from my fickle imagination. 5k words later, I’m off and running. I owe you one.

    Bettie, I’ve come to discover that all you need sometimes to jog the ole noggin is a brilliant scene. If you’re lucky, everything else falls into place.

    Mostly, I enjoy throwing these contests because I love reading the entries!

    Bev: the guest-character is bi-polar and bi-sexual so it could be either bride or groom POV, but since you ask, it was bride-POV in my head when I typed it.
