Schyeah, I’m Famous!

I gave my first autograph today. Of course, it was to my devastatingly gorgeous BFF Nick, for whom I feel a deep, abiding love borne out of mutual geekery (don’t kick my ass, Nick’s girlfriend!). Okay, so it was a digital autograph and it was totally done on Photoshop, but damn it, it felt good. I was just so happy when he said, “Hey, I just totally bought a copy right now” (or something to that effect) that I had to do it. I mean, somebody bought my book. Somebody took the time to enter their credit card info into MBaM and bought it. That’s… that’s such a good feeling. I was so afraid no one will buy it. I really, really was.

So… thanks, Nick. You’re the top! You’re the Coliseum. You’re the top! You’re the Louvre Museum. You’re a melody from a symphony by Strauss. You’re a Bendel bonnet, A Shakespeare’s sonnet, You’re Mickey Mouse. You’re the Nile, You’re the Tower of Pisa, You’re the smile on the Mona Lisa. I’m a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop, But if, baby, I’m the bottom you’re the top! *sobs* And you’re so gonna get laid when your girlfriend finds out you read romance novels. Heh.

Btw, our friend May has posted an exclusive never-before-seen excerpt of Skin to Skin. Go check it out if you’re still not convinced to buy. Oh, and there’s a contest too. Prize? $15GC to Amazon and copies of Skin to Skin. Go now!

P.S. And I totally acknowledge that the beautiful Shiloh Walker bought a copy of Skin to Skin too.

Hey! I took the time to go to MBAM and enter MY info. How come I’m not getting any appreciation?

    :P

Mutual geekiness, huh? That stuff friendships are made of.

Such flattery! You deserve all the recognition (and subsequent book sales) you can get, though, Dee. This is an amazing accomplishment and I’m so happy for you. W00t!

Just don’t forget about your devastatingly gorgeous BFF when you become rich and famous, okay? Because I totally want to go swimming in your mansion’s heart-shaped pool.

Cheers to your many future successes!

I picked up a copy this morning! I couldn’t say grats at the time because your server was down. :( So, grats! I hope you’re celebrating your big day in style.

I have a stack of review books a mile high right now, but I do promise to make room for Skin to Skin. ;)

Congrats on your sale. Now I wonder how long it will be before someone stabs you in the back and rips your work apart, like you’ve done to so many other writers. How long before someone lies about what you’ve written because of their jealousy, trying to insure that your career is destroyed before it even gets started, because they don’t have one yet. Or, even worse, just to make a few pathetic friends laugh. Yes, congrats Bam. May you never know the pain you’ve caused to others. Because I somehow doubt you’d be able to live with yourself if you did.

    Then again, maybe you would.

All right, all right–the excerpts convinced me. :D …and I’m not anybody special, just a blog reader. Congratulations Bam! I can’t wait to dive in.

    Um. Okay. Awkward.

Way to go, buzzkill. Not that I don’t love you for caring enough to comment.

Catie, operative word is “reader”. That’s what makes me love you. Heck, even if you couldn’t read, I’d love you.

whaddup, Nick. I guess a heart-shaped pool is better than a kidney-shaped pool, huh?

And to Jackie, December, Ann, and Heather…

    GROUP HUG!

That sure pissed on the parade huh? I wonder who MM is Bam, no doubt somebody who’s book you thought sucked eh? (g)

Well, MM, if you’re an author who’s career failed before it barely got started, I’d say that was probably more to do with your lack of talent, than a negative review from Bam, or anyone else for that matter. In which case, you might want to try working to try to improve your writing, rather than blaming somebody else for your shortcomings.

I’m pretty sure not everyone will like Bam’s books, but as long as she doesn’t go postal in public when she receives her first negative review, (you know it’ll happen right Dee?) then she will be just fine.

bam: I’ve written AND received both positive and negative reviews, and had authors react both well and poorly to the negative reviews I’ve written. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that while sure, negative reviews ain’t easy, they’re also inevitable (we don’t all have the same tastes, after all, so how on earth could everyone like the same work?). An author who doesn’t understand that and can’t handle it shouldn’t be trying to publish their work publicly. So don’t worry about MM and those like her. Either she’ll eventually learn that a negative review isn’t the end of the world or her career, or she’ll move on to a career more suited to her.

Wow MM. God forbid Bam have an honest oppinion on what she does and doesn’t like to read. I’m sure authors would much rather have false flattery to protect their ego rather than a reader that points out the flaws that most of us noticed. At least with honest reviews they can correct their mistakes (or keep their current writing style, whichever they choose) and possibly expand their fan base.
