Guess What I Just Pre-Ordered…

Shut up. I’m sick. I need help. Blah-blah-blah.

But the cover looks pretty good, no?

This cover is very different from the others. I like it though. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come. :P

I noticed that about LKH - she gets some of the best covers, whut.

This cover makes me hope for some old-school gory, noirish Anita Blake. ::sigh::

You have got to know that you are not alone?? I will be ordering and reading and probably throwing it across the room and then picking it up and finishing it..

i think we need to start a support group or something because i’ll probably end up buying it the first day it’s out and feeling….. dirty. :-(

**ROTFL and wiping eyes* I agree that it’s pretty funny given what I read from you about LKH, but I think I understand. Part of it is nostalgia or earlier books and hope it will get better, another part a sick desire to see how far Anita will sink in this one, part of it is habit, part of it is sheer addiction, and the last part, despite everything, still finds something to enjoy in them. Go figure. I’ve utterly despised the last four books or so (since Incubus dreams) yet I’m probably going to end up buying this one too. As I did with every book, including the ones I’ve despised. *banging head on computer desk*.

I actually refrained from buying Lick of Frost in hardback (too much money for around 200 pages). I think I’m actually going to pass on the hardback of Blood Noir too. I’m not sure I’ll be up to the paperbacks even. Too many Richard/Anita fights (over and over and over and over….), no more real men, fake lesbian sex, obvious woman-hating issues …. and way too much angst. I used to buy her books as soon as they came out, the last few even though they were hardbacks. I guess I’m in recovery from the AB addiction.

There are lot’s of other great writers out there. Has anybody here read Faith Hunter or Rachel Vincent? How about Vicki Pettersson or Jeanine Frost? Those are newer writers that I have been enjoying along with some of my other favorites (Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Rachel Caine…..)

One of these days I’m looking forward to seeing your books in the bookstore also, Bam! (I’ve been waiting…)

The cover kind of frightens me. It reminds me of “Saw” or “Hostel.” Ewwwww.
    Creepy.

However, I’m sure the book will be well met.

Does that mean Anita is going to get it on with a scissors now since she has had everyone and everything due to her lame ardor? I finished reading at book 10 and never look back.
But the cover is very Saw-ish and looks great :)

Just a chime in from Bam’s token LKH fangirl–

Blood Noir is Jason’s book. It was supposed to be a novel-lite like Micah, but it grew into something more.

Jason’s father is dying and he asks Anita to go back home with him. He and the old man have issues and he could use the moral support from a friend.

So, from what I understand, most of this book takes place out of town and we get very little of the usual cast of characters.

Damn. I’ve never been a fan of Jason.

I hope this will be more like Obsidian Butterfly rather than Micah.

Us sickos have to stick together, Bam. I’ve ordered it too. AND I’M DAMN PROUD OF IT! Well, not too ashamed, at least.

Damn. I’ve never been a fan of Jason.

Well, shit, there goes that theory. I always thought that Jason was the one character that was universally well liked. Even the people that can’t stand any other character seemed to like Jason because he could tell Anita off and she didn’t shoot him for it.

But all is not lost. IIRC, she mentioned another fight with Richard at some point in the book, so you can at least get your jollies off on that. ;-p

I have not ordered the book I stopped buying her books after Incubus Dreams which i could not even finsih but have continued to indulge my sick obsession by borrowing the books from the library. I swore no more after the Harlequin but I can already feel myself weakening. At least I’m not spending any money. That’s something…right?

Yes! I love Jason and have sorely missed him. What’s up with the cover though? Pretty big departure from bustiers and hotties, but I like it.

Jason’s my favorite werewolf, he needs more scenes. But the scissors? What’s she going to do, finally cut some of Antia’s relationships to tiny little pieces? Riiiiight, is LKH so scared of killing off her own characters? Damn, kill of Richard already he’s a sad excuse for a friggin’ werewolf.

Nice cover - pity I can’t afford to buy it just yet :(
Still saving up for A Lick Of Frost!

OH, boy, I can’t wait for the Bam Take.

I can only hope that it doesn’t live up to the cover because if it’s actually a good read, and you enjoy it, then you’ll probably ruin the series I really care about—the best book reviews, ever.
